Poetic TYPES at case[werks]

Where can you take a poem? We can't wait to see.

SHAG, in conjunction with Case[werks] Gallery and Station North Arts & Entertainment District, is organizing an exhibition of graphic and visual works based on this poem:

Tuning In

Imagine a poem
where the stars speak to you,
give collegial advice,
as the sun does in Frank O'Hara's
"True Account of Talking to the Sun
at Fire Island."

O'Hara! Wake up!
When I talked with your
comrade, Mayakovsky,
he was already up.

You may not be
the greatest thing on earth,
but you're okay.
Don't worry about your place in history.
Just keep on.

In my poem,
the stars whistle

It's hard for us to care
from this great distance,
but go ahead, use us
in your humanthropomorphic way
as mirrors of your twirling selves.

The words are thrilling
though attenuated;
then, they get tinny
and begin to break up.

I think I hear    burn
I think I hear    explode
